CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK

USC +4

The USC Trojans already got up close and personal with the Stanford Cardinal once in a 41-31 loss. Now they have stability with newly named head coach Clay Helton which means no distractions. So Cal is healthier and I think they have more talent. It’s hard to beat a team twice in one season and all the pressure is on The Cardinal.

NMSU vs Mississippi Under 69.5

152045691_27353749_56297

Both teams coming off of big games, for the Aggies, a huge circle the wagons game vs their rival New Mexico (by the way, why did these 2 teams play in early October and not in late November, I disgress). But again, up 26-14 on the road at halftime and they come out in the 2nd half and lay an egg. Now they have to go across country into an SEC environment and take on a team where they are clearly outmanned by this Rebel team. For Ole Miss and their fan base, this may be a game where they deal with a little bit of a hangover in the same way you saw Alabama come out flat vs. MTSU a few weeks back after losing to this Rebel team. Please note, the same thing happened to this Mississippi squad a few weeks back after beating the Tide on the road and then squeaking by the Vanderbilt Commodores 27-16. I look for Ole Miss to win by 30 to 40, but I don’t see a 50 or 60 point effort and I don’t see the Aggies putting up many on their side. Again, looks like there is some value under the total of 69.5.

MT_USA

Middle Tennessee St. +8.5
Won’t dive as deep into this one because really it’s quite simple. This is a big step down in class for the Blue Raiders after taking on Vanderbilt at home. As much as Vanderbilt lacks a ton of skill position talent, they are a big, strong, and tough SEC team and we’ve seen this Commodore compete again teams like Georgia, Ole Miss, etc. MTSU has shown they can score points in bunches and defend against these spread types teams like Western KY and while the Hilltoppers are a quality foe, I think 8.5 is too many. I think this line is anywhere from 3 to 4 points to high and because of that, I like the value of getting more than a touchdown and a 2 pt conversion with the Blue Raiders.

Fiesta-Bowl

Connecticut +2.5 (Try to get 3)
Quite simply, this Golden Knight team is no good. They play multiple Freshman on both the offensive and defensive lines and just like we discussed about Vanderbilt, while Connecticut lacks quality skill position talent, this is a big, strong, and upper classmen based team that can hold their own in the trenches. You saw UCF go into South Carolina and give the Gamecocks a test in the first half and they come back from halftime looking gassed early and their SEC foe ran away with it. Mind you, when I say SEC foe, I mean arguably the worst of the SEC team. Connecticut should play the Knights tough and even though this game is being played in Orlando, I think UConn wins outright and thus I think there is value getting +2.5. Obviously if you can get 3, please do so as it is a key number.
